- i know that in nor cal it is legal for a max of 3 days, enough time to get ready or unpack from a trip. Not sure about so cal, but you can alays call the local police and they will assit you.

Where can I park my RV at night in Califonia?
Me and a bunch of friends are planning to roadtrip through california this december/january. We’re looking at renting an RV and just going wherever we feel like going. However, finding RV camping grounds is a real pain, plus the fact that they are usually far away from the touristic attractions we want to see in the big cities. Therefore i was wondering if it is possible to just find a quiet road or street somewhere, where the presence of a 25′ parked truck is no problem for anyone living in that area, and just staying there. Any experienced RV enthousiasts who can help me out with this? Thanks!

Just give them your home address and let them know it’s all ready installed. I know of several people who have one account and two homes. They just set up the equipment and take the card with them when they visit ther vacation home. This isn’t stealing, they only use the one card at one location at a time. As long as you pay for your service, they shouldn’t really care where it is. You will need to have dish aiming directions with you when you set up the dish but you should be able to find this on the web.

How can I get 30amps for my RV from a house?
Most household outlets are 15amps. I need 30 amps to be able to run everything in my RV. Is there a way to get 30 amps from a house short of installing a separate breaker? If I have to install a separate 30 amp breaker and plug-in, how do I know if the breaker box can handle it. I have no idea about electrical things, so sorry for my ignorance.

- I was going to suggest something that involved jerry rigging an extension cord, but it sounds like your RV is becoming a permanent fixture to your house. If you have a 200amp service, you really shouldn’t have anything to worry about by installing a new 30amp single pole breaker and 30amp recept. If you have a 100amp service, probably the only time you’d have any issues would be if your house AC is running at the same time as the electric stove and electric dryer and the RV AC. I’d give it a try and if it trips the main breaker, then don’t run the dryer while the RV is plugged in. I’d play it safe and run a new line close to where your RV is parked though.
- Your R.V. will have a standard ‘plug-in’ fitting.
You will need to install a matching fitting.
You will need:
* A new 30 A. 2 P. breaker, either in your panel, or
in an ‘add on’ box.
* Code compliant wiring to the new outdoor ‘plug-in’ fitting.
Sorry, but the Code requirements are exacting for this installation.
It’s not the kind of thing you should DIY unless you’ve
already got some electrical background.
Unless you contemplate using both the house and the R.V. at the same time, there should be no problem
with the house service as you won’t be using all the power
in both at once.
(Most houses will be able to support an extra 30A. in any case.)

Only uninsured casualty losses can be claimed. Since the insurance company paid the claim only your deductible would be eligible. Due to the way that casualty loss deductions are calculated it’s highly unlikely you’d have anything to claim.
If the amount of your deductible, less $100, less 10% of your AGI is still a positive number, THAT is what you can deduct.

- You can try posting on RV trader online. See link. Be patient. Selling vehicles can take time. I sold my truck at Autotrader.com & it took 3 months to find the right buyer. I had many people email me saying they would buy my truck sight unseen. But I told anyone who wrote or called me that if they really wanted my truck, then they would have to come out & see it. This method quickly weeded out the dead beat buyers. Plenty of people out there who would try to literally steal anything before your eyes. Lots of fake cashiers checks & forgeries. Ya gotta be vigilant.

How do you get musty smells out of an old used RV?
Got an old used RV, smells like a dead rat, Cleaned it, but I couldn’t take out all the pumps, wiring, and water tank to clean around. I also used the shop vac. I am letting it air out, because something may still be in the frame. So, I am asking, how to get the smell out after cleaning what I could reach. This thing sat in a field for two years and A friend gave it to me. Any tips for an old rv would be welcome. It runs good and the fridge and stove work fine, as does the pump and hot water. Thanks.

The first thing I would suggest is a thorough search of the RV to determine if a field animal got into the vehicle. A dead mammal reeks and it is a very strong smell that won’t go away, even with an airing out. After you have made sure that is not the problem, I would suggest two main steps that are quite easy to accomplish. Additionally, there are some optional steps should you require an all out attack on odor.
1. Go to home improvement store and buy product called “Damp Rid.” This is one product that truly delivers. Use it as directed and you will be amazed to find it soaks up humidity, dampness and odors. (I use it in my teenager’s closets and any place that remains closed to air circulation.)
2. Place some bowls of white vinegar througout the RV for a few days. Ignore the vinegar smell, as it will dissipate eventually, along with the odors. After a few days, air out the RV and you should find the air smells much cleaners. (Someone suggested this treatment would rid a house of fish smells after cooking, and it works REMARKABLY well for fish or any other stinky smell.)
3. You may want to sprinkle some baking soda over the carpet and on the bedding, and chairs to tackle left over odors.
4. Spray “Oust” spray or Lysol disenfectant spray throughout.

Well, Considering we dont know how long they will be there, we cannot give an exact amount. It sounds like your new to the “real estate” business so i will give you some pointers right fast.
1) Get it in writing. If you and the RV owner decide 6 months then get it in writing and set the price in stone. Don’t forget that if they are on your property only during the night, they will be tearing up your grass. Is that important to you? Should you include that in the price? That is up to you.
2) Make sure they don’t want water access. You stated that they will use electricity, you did not mention water.
3) Check and see what they think is fair. Put your price on the table, and watch their faces, their hands, their eyes. Do they show any resistants? If not maybe you could add, Thats the price without water and electricity thus letting you bring the price up slightly higher.
4) Check with your state for some kind of goofy fees for this. I know it sounds odd but you never can tell
5 ) I would make sure they have insurance on that. You never know when they might hit your fence or house or have some sort of illegal substances on hand, but what I have found is people with insurance are clean, but I guess thats because I live so close to the border.
6 ) Do a background check. I know this may not have come up at first, but you dont want a bad image and you defenatly dont want someone with a criminal record.
7 ) Check around at other places prices. Act like your wanting to by a spot at their place. This keeps your price in check.
